"I bought this recording without knowing anything about the lutenist and precious little about French baroque lute music - I was curious about how the lute transcription of Couperin's Les Barricades Misterieuses would come off. I listen to it often because it has some of the most beautiful and truly musical lute playing I have heard - and it is recorded beautifully as well. As a result of listening to this disc, I have since bought almost any recording I could find of French baroque lute music and, although many are well-played and enjoyable, Yisrael's recording remains my favorite.
